Panaya S/4Convert Step-by-Step Setup Guide

This guide walks you through preparing your SAP system for a successful S/4HANA conversion using Panaya S/4Convert.

If you're upgrading (not converting) using Panaya S/4Accelerate, please use this guide instead.


🔧 Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • SAP access with permissions to run and create ABAP programs, jobs, or SAP_ALL level access

  • Panaya login credentials

  • A modern browser (Chrome 15+ or Edge Edge)

  • Enough SAP system memory (If required please run SE38 > rsmemory and set:

    • abap/heap_area_dia & abap/heap_area_nondia = 8GB

    • abap/heap_area_total = 16GB



📌 Step A: Check Implemented SAP Notes

The SI check should run on

PRD or a PRD copy (must include usage stats)

SAP Requirement: ERP 6.0 or higher

Check if the following Notes are installed (Relevant only for SI, not relevant for extract without SI):



📌 Step B: Run the SI Check

  1. Go to the SAP Launchpad

  2. Download the Simplification Item Catalog ZIP file

  3. In SE38, run /SDF/RC_START_CHECK

  4. Upload the ZIP file and select your S/4HANA target version

  5. Execute the check (F8)

  6. Click "Check Consistency for All"

  7. If it’s too slow, read this


📌 Step C: Prep the ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC)

ATC runs on a Central Check System (SAP NetWeaver 7.52 and on)

Follow these steps:

  • Check if the following SAP Notes are implemented (2436688, 2364916, 2423013, 2527903, 2505671, 2518335, 2524014, 2503289, 2546419, 2942419, 3105801)

  • Install the correct Note for your S/4HANA version (e.g., 3365357 for 2023)


📌 Step D: Import Simplification Database Content

  1. Go to SAP Support Download Center

  2. Search and download component CCMSIDB

  3. Use transaction SYCM to import the ZIP file

    • Menu > Simplification Database Import from ZIP File

  4. Alternatively: run SYCM_UPLOAD_SIMPLIFIC_INFO in SE38


📌 Step E: ATC Configuration

  1. Assign role SAP_SATC_ADMIN

  2. Add required authorizations (S_YCM)

  3. Create RFC to SBX system – see RFC Setup

  4. Apply the check variant

  5. ATC Setup Guide

  6. In the Central System, run transaction ATC to configure and run remote checks


📌 Step F: SAP Code Inspector (SCI) – HANA 2.0 Prep

Required for HANA migration readiness.

  • SCI must include:

    • ZPANAYA_FUNCTIONAL_DB_ADDITION → variant FUNCTIONAL_DB_ADDITION

    • ZPANAYA_Performance_DB → variant Performance_DB

  • Can be run on a different system if needed


📌 Step I: Create Required RFC Connections

Use SM59 to define the following connections:

📌 Step J: Extract Custom Code with Panaya Tool

  1. In Panaya, go to Settings

  2. Choose your ERP version

  3. Download the ABAP extraction code

  4. Create program ZPANAYA_EXTRACT_PROG_LIB in SE38 and paste code

  5. Execute in Background Mode

    • Directory: \tmp

    • RFC Destinations:

      • PANAYA_PRD – for code

      • PANAYA_SI – for SI checks (must be client 000)

      • PANAYA_ATC – for ATC results

  6. SCI Mode: Choose Option A or read options

  7. View screen recording


📦 Final Step: Upload to Panaya

  1. Locate the extraction XML file

  2. Compress it using Gzip (not RAR)

  3. Do not use SAP transactions (e.g., AL11, CG3Z) to move the file

  4. Use WinSCP or another tool to move it to your local machine

  5. Upload to Panaya Code Box
