Article Summary

Oracle E-business Suite includes a new mandatory feature in version 12.2 that allows customers to introduce Online Patches that eliminate the downtime when installing different patches.

In contrast to the traditional patching methodology, Online Patches has been designed to allow users to remain on the system when fixes are applied.
To support the changes introduced, Oracle provides specific customization rules that need to be applied. Most of the changes in EBS related to the support of Online Patches impact the database area; however, the introduction of these rules may impact other aspects of the system.
The rules must also be applied to any custom code in the system, and it is difficult to understand if this code is compatible with the new rules.

Panaya’s Online Patches Impact Analysis presents the impact of introducing the rules in both the standard and custom code (as provided by the Oracle Readiness Report) and shows the distinction or origin between them.
The generated activities also include usage information, allowing you to focus on the areas that matter - all through a simple to use project planning platform with easy-to-understand tasks and related testing activity.

Ordinarily, you would not perform any testing until the new version has been installed. Still, with Panaya, the generated tasks are automatically associated with Testing Tasks so that you can start the testing aspect of your project straight away.
