# Panaya S/4Convert Step-by-Step Setup Guide

This guide walks you through preparing your SAP system for a successful S/4HANA conversion using Panaya S/4Convert.

If you're upgrading (not converting) using **Panaya S/4Accelerate**, please [use this guide instead](/v1/docs/panaya-sap-s4accelerate-extraction-process).

---

## 🔧 Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you have:

- SAP access with permissions to run and create ABAP programs, jobs, or `SAP_ALL` level access
- Panaya login credentials
- A modern browser (Chrome 15+ or Edge Edge)
- Enough SAP system memory (If required please run SE38 > `rsmemory` and set:
  - `abap/heap_area_dia` & `abap/heap_area_nondia` = **8GB**
  - `abap/heap_area_total` = **16GB**

---

---

## 📌 Step A: Check Implemented SAP Notes

The SI check should run on

**PRD** or a **PRD copy** (must include usage stats)

**SAP Requirement**: ERP 6.0 or higher [More on Simplification Item Check](https://blogs.sap.com/2018/03/26/sap-s4hana-simplification-item-check-how-to-do-it-right./)

---

Check if the following Notes are installed (Relevant only for SI, not relevant for extract without SI):

- [2399707](https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2399707) – SI Check
- [2187425](https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2187425) – TCI Prerequisite
- [2502552](https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2502552) – New SI Checks
- [2943919](http://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2943919) – Duplicate Checks

---

---

## 📌 Step B: Run the SI Check

1. Go to the [SAP Launchpad](https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#sic)
2. Download the **Simplification Item Catalog ZIP** file
3. In SE38, run `/SDF/RC_START_CHECK`
4. Upload the ZIP file and **select your S/4HANA target version**
5. Execute the check (F8)
6. Click **"Check Consistency for All"**
7. If it’s too slow, [read this](/long-running-si-consistency-checks)

---

## 📌 Step C: Prep the ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC)

ATC runs on a **Central Check System** (SAP NetWeaver 7.52 and on)

Follow these steps:

- Check if the following SAP Notes are implemented ([2436688](https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2436688), [2364916](https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2364916), 2423013, 2527903, 2505671, 2518335, 2524014, 2503289, 2546419, 2942419, 3105801)
- Install the correct Note for your S/4HANA version (e.g., [3365357](https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/3365357) for 2023)

---

## 📌 Step D: Import Simplification Database Content

1. Go to [SAP Support Download Center](https://support.sap.com/swdc)
2. Search and download component `CCMSIDB`
3. Use **transaction SYCM** to import the ZIP file
  - Menu > *Simplification Database Import from ZIP File*
4. Alternatively: run `SYCM_UPLOAD_SIMPLIFIC_INFO` in SE38

---

## 📌 Step E: ATC Configuration

1. Assign role `SAP_SATC_ADMIN`
2. Add required authorizations (`S_YCM`)
3. Create RFC to SBX system – see [RFC Setup](/how-to-define-rfc-connection-for-the-panaya-extractor)
4. Apply the check variant
5. [ATC Setup Guide](/how-to-configure-execute-the-abap-test-cockpit-atc-for-sap-s4-conversion)
6. In the Central System, run transaction `ATC` to configure and run remote checks

---

## 📌 Step F: SAP Code Inspector (SCI) – HANA 2.0 Prep

Required for HANA migration readiness.

- SCI must include:
  - `ZPANAYA_FUNCTIONAL_DB_ADDITION` → variant `FUNCTIONAL_DB_ADDITION`
  - `ZPANAYA_Performance_DB` → variant `Performance_DB`
- Can be run on a different system if needed
  - [How to run SCI elsewhere](/how-to-run-the-hana-code-inspector-on-a-different-system)
  - [Watch recording](https://zoom.us/rec/play/ESB8xeaNPKj0D3GnC4LT_ytwVp4NtZKwcjuBwSrLuGjwVBciJsGheEjz19OxvGgbq9vyYDHu_iqZzBOq.Z26NPGnze4fC9Zsr?startTime=1585176401000)

---

## 📌 Step I: Create Required RFC Connections

Use `SM59` to define the following connections:

| From | To | RFC Destination | Type |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ATC → SBX | `ATC_RFC` | 3 (ABAP) | |
| SBX → PRD | `PANAYA_PRD` | 3 (ABAP) | |
| SBX → ATC | `PANAYA_ATC` | 3 (ABAP) | |
| SBX → PRD (Client 000) | `PANAYA_SI` | 3 (ABAP) | |

More details:

- [RFC Requirements](/authorizations-required-for-the-code-extraction-rfc-user)
- [Define RFCs](/how-to-define-rfc-connection-for-the-panaya-extractor)

---

## 📌 Step J: Extract Custom Code with Panaya Tool

1. In Panaya, go to **Settings**
2. Choose your ERP version
3. Download the ABAP extraction code
4. Create program `ZPANAYA_EXTRACT_PROG_LIB` in SE38 and paste code
  - [How to install](/how-to-install-abap-program)
5. Execute in **Background Mode**
  - Directory: `\tmp`
  - RFC Destinations:
    - `PANAYA_PRD` – for code
    - `PANAYA_SI` – for SI checks (must be client 000)
    - `PANAYA_ATC` – for ATC results
6. SCI Mode: Choose **Option A** or [read options](/how-to-define-hana-20-sap-code-inspector-execution)
7. [View screen recording](https://zoom.us/rec/play/M0lisiBtRoXKZ-vsGClW8UDoQ-Zmqk01y01mbFd9n8tnT1_7qvB4SSyQI6Er6oGmsB24UgHRYZOw_Kmk.q2fnbxw85BrBJwP4?startTime=1585175451000)

---

## 📦 Final Step: Upload to Panaya

1. Locate the extraction XML file
  - [How to locate](/how-to-extract-and-upload-your-custom-code)
2. Compress it using **Gzip** (not RAR)
  - [Gzip Tool](http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/gzip.htm)
3. **Do not use SAP transactions (e.g., AL11, CG3Z) to move the file**
4. Use WinSCP or another tool to move it to your local machine
5. Upload to Panaya Code Box
