# Test Recorder Mode - Online / Local Installation

To enable the Panaya **Online**or [**Local Installation**](/v1/docs/how-to-install-the-recorder-player-locally) of the Recorder and Player for users -

1. Click the **Settings button ![](https://cdn.document360.io/f404076c-de23-4609-848e-2dfd4ef701b0/Images/Documentation/image-1639737556336.png)**to open the settings panel.
2. Click on **Users.**
3. **Select a user** from the list.
4. Set the Recorder & Synchronizer Mode for the user -
  - **Online (Recommended)**
  - **System Default**
  - [Local Installation](/v1/docs/how-to-install-the-recorder-player-locally) - If selected, the Panaya Testing Tool **will not** automatically receive updates and bug fixes. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/f404076c-de23-4609-848e-2dfd4ef701b0/Images/Documentation/image-6644J9Q8.png)
5. **Save Changes**. Users will need to **log out** and then log in again for the new setting to take effect.

## Modify Test Recorder Mode in Bulk

- You can view the test recorder mode in the **By Users** view.
- The test launch mode column appears in the user export file and the user import template.
