Multiple Browser Certificate of Authentication in ScriptBuilder and Agent

Prev Next

When using Panaya's ScriptBuilder for test automation, you may encounter multiple browser authentication certificates during recording or playback. This can interrupt your test automation process and prevent the proper execution of scripts. This issue can also occur when playing back through the Panaya Agent.

Multiple certificate prompts typically occur when a browser detects multiple valid certificates available for authentication. This situation often arises when -

  • Users have multiple digital certificates installed on their machines.

  • Organizational networks enforce strict security policies requiring multiple authentication methods.

  • Browsers cannot automatically select the appropriate certificate.

Since digital certificate management is typically handled at the organizational level, the most effective solution is to contact your IT administrator. They can help configure the correct certificate selection policy for your browser.

Below are steps to consider to try and resolve the issue.

  1. Take note of the specific browser and certificate details.

  2. Contact Your IT Administrator.
Provide them with the details of the issue and request that the following solutions be reviewed -

    • Keep one valid certificate in your browser.

    • Configuring automatic certificate selection using browser policies.

    • Removing unnecessary or outdated certificates from your system.

    • Setting up certificate management through Group Policy for Windows environments.

  3. Once the IT administrator applies the necessary changes, run your ScriptBuilder scenario again to confirm that the issue is resolved.

Good to Know!

  • Ensure your browser is up-to-date, as newer versions often improve certificate management.

  • Clear your browser cache and restart the browser to apply any configuration changes.

If the issue persists even after working with your IT administrator, feel free to contact Panaya Support for further guidance.
