# Creating New Impact Analysis

## Define components for an **ad-hoc analysis**

**Good to Know!**[**Install the ForeSight Chrome Extension**](/v1/docs/how-to-install-panayas-foresight-extension)**and launch both the**[**Search & Analyze and Text Search**](/v1/docs/how-to-analyze-components-directly-from-your-salesforce-lightning-org)**directly from within Salesforce**

3. Click on **Search & Analyze ![](https://cdn.document360.io/f404076c-de23-4609-848e-2dfd4ef701b0/Images/Documentation/image-1685347863934.png)**Are you **searching for a text i**n your Org? [Click here](/v1/docs/searching-for-a-textstring-within-your-salesforce-org)
4. The **Add & Analyze** dialog box will appear.  
Select the Type of component you wish to analyze and type the name of the component in the name search box, then hit **Enter**.

  - You can**use * as a wildcard search** to get results that contain your text in addition to exact matches.![](https://cdn.document360.io/f404076c-de23-4609-848e-2dfd4ef701b0/Images/Documentation/image-1761651186767.png)
5. **Select the components**from the results list, and click on **Add & Analyze** or **Add.** Note: Components can be selected from multiple pages in the results list and aggregated in the Total Items Selected area, from which they can be deselected.

NoteYou can select up to **120**components at a time for analysis.

- **Add & Analyze**  
Will redirect you to the dynamic [**Graph view**](/v1/docs/dynamic-graph-view-for-sfdc-impact-analysis) and **[List View](/v1/docs/how-to-review-your-foresight-analysis)**of your analysis

1. **Save**the Analysis

1. Fill in the mandatory fields and click on **Save & View**or **Save & New**.

## **Define the scope**for a new or**existing Feature / Analysis**

1. Select the **Workspace tab**
2. [Create a new Feature / Analysis in your Workspace](https://success.panaya.com/v1/docs/how-to-add-a-new-requirement)
3. Select the new **Feature**or an existing feature****from the list

4. Select the **Impact Analysis tab**.  
In the **Scope section**, click on **Add Scope Item**to search and select components for analysis and **proceed as described in step 4 in the section above**.![](https://cdn.document360.io/f404076c-de23-4609-848e-2dfd4ef701b0/Images/Documentation/image-1685348297663.png)Alternatively, you can use a Package XML file to **Import Scope Items**

NoteYou can import many scope items but afterwards you can only select up to **120**components at a time for analysis.
