# Adding Manual Steps while Recording

When [recording any application with the Panaya Recorder](/v1/docs/how-to-run-document), you can add Manual Steps from a different application.

1. At any point during the recording, hover over the flashing red circle and**click on the arrows** to **expand** the Panaya Recorder (see also: [How to run & document](/v1/docs/run-document-web)) ![](https://cdn.document360.io/f404076c-de23-4609-848e-2dfd4ef701b0/Images/Documentation/image-1639923774261.png)

2. Select the **Add Manual Step button![](https://cdn.document360.io/f404076c-de23-4609-848e-2dfd4ef701b0/Images/Documentation/image-1639923790983.png)**
3. **Select the application from the list**   
Panaya will automatically capture a **screenshot**.   
  
**Click on the screenshot** to edit it by highlighting areas, using text and arrows

4. Add a short **description**for the step captured and click Save**.**
5. To save the step, click **Save**
