# Entering SAP GUI Credentials Through Automated Script Instructions

This article explains an alternative way to supply SAP GUI credentials during automated execution when credentials cannot be stored in the Panaya SAP connection.

> Panaya does not recommend this configuration as the standard approach. Use it only when your organization’s requirements prevent storing the username and password in the SAP connection.

1. **Keep the SAP connection configured without stored credentials** Navigate to the Panaya [SAP connections](https://success.panaya.com/docs/sap-connections) settings and open the relevant connection. Keep the connection configured, but leave the username and password fields empty. Do not delete the connection.
2. **Enable Interactive SAP GUI Connection** In ScriptBuilder, open the [SAP GUI settings](/v1/docs/sap-connection-settings-in-scriptbuilder) and select the **Interactive SAP GUI Connection** option. This allows the SAP Login screen to open during recording and execution.
3. **Record the credential input instructions** While recording the script, enter the username and password in the SAP Login screen. ScriptBuilder records these input actions as script instructions instead of storing the credentials in the Connect to SAP instruction. The login therefore remains part of the automated script and does not require credentials to be entered manually during each execution.

4. **Execute and validate** Run the automated script and confirm that the SAP Login screen opens and that the recorded instructions enter the credentials successfully.
