How to analyze Impact and Risk?

This article explains how to use Release Dynamix to calculate the impact and risk by linking your SAP change requests and transports per Requirement. 

To View Risk Analysis -

  1. Login to Panaya
  2. Click on the Menu button and select a Project
  3. Select the Development tab
  4. Select the Requirement / Feature from the list
    You can set the View Selection to display Requirements / Features Only (All Requirements / All Features)
  5. Click on the Requirement  / Feature ID or Name to open up the Requirement / Feature details
    Or double click anywhere on a row
  6. Select the Risk Analysis tab

Define Code Changes
The Code Changes section allows you to search for existing Change Requests in the current Project's SAP Development system.

  1. Select Link Changes
    or link SAP Change Requests
  2. Use the search box to locate the Changes
  3. Select the Changes from the list and click on Link
  4. Panaya will display the calculated Impact and Risk

Good to Know!
If you cannot locate the relevant Code Changes you can import changes from an Excel spreadsheet or use the Create Generic Change option.

Generic Changes will not be analyzed



Import Change Requests
To import using an Excel Template file - 

  1. Select Link Changes
    or link SAP Change Requests
     
  2. Select the From Excel option
  3. Follow the instruction to import your Change Requests

 

Impact Risk 
Here you can view all Entry Points that are associated with all linked Code Changes and scope Entry Points in or out of your Project.

Use the Add Entry Point button to add Entry Points that were not picked up by the Code Changes Analysis. 


Use the Select Column button to hide or display additional information

For each Entry Point, you can - 

Assess Impact

  • Assess the impact of an Entry Point, by highlighting the entry point and selecting Assess Impact

Generate a Test

  • Generate Tests for a single or multiple Entry Points, by highlight the Entry Point(s) and selecting Generate Test

     

Review Suggested Tests

  • Review Suggested Tests and decide whether you wish to include them in your Test Plan.
    To add to the test plan for this Requirement, highlight the Suggested Test and select Add Selected to Test Plan

Risk Summary

This view allows a quick understanding of the number of scoped in Entry Points and their test coverage.

  • The Test Validation Risk displays the percentage of scoped in Entry Points that are currently covered by Tests
  • Low/Medium/High Impact Risk - The risk is calculated by comparing the number of scoped in Entry Points that are not covered by Tests, to the total number of scoped in Entry Points


     
  • Use the Usage/Impact toggle to view all scoped out Entry Points classified by Usage or by their Impact

 

Export Options

Export your Code Changes and a comprehensive Risk Analysis Report for your Features / Requirements, including associated transports and data, entry points, impact risk and test activities.


 

  • Export Code Changes
    Export the associated transports - Transport ID, Description, SAP user/owner, Transport date, Transport type, Type of request, Comments, Wide Impact Risk Indicator and action recommendation.
     
  • Risk Analysis Report 
    Export the associated Code Changes, Entry Points, Impact and Tests.
    Including - associated transports, Transport ID, Description, SAP user/owner, Transport date, Transport type, Type of request, Comments, Wide Impact Risk Indicator and action recommendation.
    The Excel file will also include the Entry Points details, Entry Point Description, Type, Source, Usage, Module, Application Component, Package, Last used, Impact Likelihood, Covered Y/N, Scoping In/Out, Comments.
    A dedicated sheet will display all Tests as well as another sheet for covering tests.
